Questions:

1. Tell us about who your character is and what someone’s first impression would be upon meeting them. How would your character act once someone got to know them?

Max Goof is the son of Goofy, a kid in high school trying his best to figure out life. Someone meeting Max for the first time might see a kid who's trying his best to be "cool". And Max definitely tries his best to appear smooth, like a cool kid who's got things all figured out. Deep down though, he's hiding a lot of insecurities. He's afraid of growing up to be like his dad, as his nightmare in the beginning of the movie implies. He's deeply afraid of appearing nerdy or like a "loser", and he'll do anything to make it seem like he's not that. Even lying to appear like his life is more exciting than it is. Someone who gets to know him though, might see someone who's passionate, a bit clumsy, and much more of an awkward teenager.

2. What is something unique and interesting about them, or what is a fun little tidbit that sets them apart from the crowd?

He once saved his dad from going over a waterfall! He and his dad were fighting while driving through a canyon. His dad forgot to put the car in park, causing the car to drive away. They give chase, and end up in a river as a result. While they were sharing their feelings and having a heart-to-heart, they end up drifting towards the edge of a waterfall. His dad ends up going over the waterfall, but after Max uses his dad's perfect cast fishing technique, he ends up saving his life by using a fishing rod to catch him. This goes to show that he does care very much about his father, despite his best efforts to push him away. And that he does listen to his father... sometimes.

3. What does your character think their flaws are? What do they think their strengths are? What are their actual flaws and strengths?

Max's thinks his flaws is that he's a social failure. He's very hard on himself, especially when it comes to Roxanne. And he desperately wants to change this around, so that he's not the social loser he perceives himself to be. His real flaw is that he cares so much about how other people see him, especially if it's a cute girl he really likes. ESPECIALLY if it's a cute girl he really likes, then he's willing to lie - both to the girl and his dad, deceive, and overall disregard other people's feelings to achieve this perfect image of himself that he wants people to believe that he is. He was willing to lie to Roxanne about being at a Powerline concert, ON STAGE WITH POWERLINE, and made up a lie that his dad knows Powerline all to get Roxanne to like him more. And he tells her this with no plan on how he's actually going to prove this. And what's worse, he drags his dad into his plan by changing his dad's road map in order to deceive him into going to LA instead of their intended destination.

His strength is that he's very passionate. He loves Roxanne so much that he's willing to jeopardize a trip with his father, lying to him and even changing their road map just so that he impress Roxanne. And while Roxanne is currently the center of his world, he does care a lot about his dad. While their vacation together is horrifying to Max, and he dreads the idea of spending time with his dad, he does have moments where he shows that he does care. When his dad tells him the story of "Hi Dad" soup, Max leaves a "Hi Dad" message in a can of soup for him. Max probably doesn't think he doesn't really have any strengths, because he's very critical of himself. He's very hard on himself with all of his interactions with Roxanne, and he's terrified of becoming like his father.

4. What is a common misconception other characters have about your character?

That he's a bad kid. That's the opinion his principal has of him, and even his dad - or at least, he's dad is afraid he'll turn out into a bad kid. He's really not. He's just wants to prove himself to the girl he loves, and he'll go to ANY lengths to do that. Including hijacking a school auditorium to put on a Powerline concert to impress her, and tricking his dad into driving to LA to go to a Powerline concert. Just for the chance to get on stage with Powerline because that's the lie he told Roxanne, instead of telling her that he's supposed to go on a fishing trip with his dad. He does tell her the truth in the end, it just... takes him a while to get there.
